I am pretty much sure you guys know about the The Vow movie that was shown the early of 2012. I will be analyzing a scene from it to appreciate the camera techniques in narrating it as well as the art direction of the people during the "in the making" of the movie. The Vow is generally about a woman who wakes up from a medically induced coma because of a car accident. Her memory has been wiped clean, and thus starts the guy bid to help her remember their life and their love, and when she doesn't, he tries to get her to fall for him again.
Alright! I chose the "fake wedding scene" of Paige and Leo at the museum because i want to emphasize the title, "The Vow". When a couple is getting married, they peacefully participate on each other's actions, words and feelings because marriage is just one-time event in their lives, it is where two beating hearts unite as one. At first, the camera did the "Over-the-Shoulder" angle of Leo and Paige which means that the characters on the frame uphold a tight connection. The camera followed the 180 degrees rule in the clip that made it very smooth and catchy for the audiences of what was going on. They did also the "Over Head" angle to show the seriousness and the support of their loving guests as they witness the wedding. Suddenly, the camera went to a full shot of it to let the viewers know how cute and young their love for each other is and also the location of the fake wedding scene, the museum. We're aware that museums do not allow such event inside so they did the medium shot size to relay to their viewers the idea of "hiding" . The slowly panning and dollying of the camera made it more dramatic and creative.
